Business cards!

I finally put aside the hours to design a business card. It’s been a long time coming.

I was keen on Moo Cards – but for a 100 card order, coming to about $20USD, the shipping to Canada was around $30, and delivery was expected in twenty five days. Now I know I’m impatient about shipping, but that seems excessive for a $30 shipping charge. I decided to find a local shop and ended up using Stitchy Lizard, in Toronto’s Liberty Village.

The cards are printed on a 110lb recycled stock, so they came out with a grain similar to that of the grain you can see upon inspecting the folder icons in OS X 10.5+. I love the look. The colors were well matched to the document I provided (with Pantones). The coloring is actually all varying shades of brown, some thing it looks black/gray in the photo. My only problem with these cards is the typical form factor – when I’m willing to spend more on cards I’ll look into alternate materials and get a little creative with the card itself. All in all, it turned out very well – turnaround was about 7 days.

I guess ordering the Moo Cards would have saved me the broken ankle on the way home from Stitchy Lizard and the plates and screws to follow, but hey.
